# Nomination warfare: how to make irrational managers spend your money for you

Your nomination is a weapon, not a formality. In a league where managers routinely spend stupid money on the first superstars, use nominations to force them to spend before they know how scarce the middle tiers will become.

## Early draft

- Nominate an elite player you do not need.
- Nominate the most emotionally expensive rookie or bounce-back name in the room.
- Do not nominate your actual target while your main competitors still have full budgets.

## Middle draft

Once two or three managers have lost $50-plus, nominate your target from the next tier. You are not trying to get a bargain relative to a static cheat sheet; you are trying to get the best remaining player relative to the remaining budgets.

## Late draft

Nominate the player you want. “Price enforcement” is much less useful when everyone is roster-constrained and the player pool is thin. Save enough money to beat the room's minimum bid, and remember that every empty roster slot creates a forced purchase.

## Track three numbers

1. Each manager's remaining budget.
2. Each manager's open starting slots.
3. How many players remain in each tier.

The manager with $70 left and six slots is less dangerous than the manager with $42 left and two slots. The latter can ruin your price on exactly one player.
