# The two-anchor auction build: enough stars, no $1-ticket fantasy team

Most auction advice says “don’t overspend.” That is incomplete. In your league, early overbidding is predictable, so the edge is to decide *what kind* of roster you want before the first superstar gets nominated.

## Three viable builds

**Two-anchor build:** spend roughly $75-$95 on two elite RB/WR anchors, then keep $105-$125 for the remaining starters and bench. This is the default target for a room that overpays early: you get ceiling without needing three $60 players.

**One-anchor build:** buy one true difference-maker, then attack the $10-$25 tiers aggressively. This is best when the first wave is absurd but the middle tier is underpriced.

**Balanced build:** spread money across six or seven starters. It is safer, but it can leave you without a weekly advantage if your league's replacement options are weak.

## The rule

Do not pre-commit to stars-and-scrubs just because the room overpays. Pre-commit to a maximum price for each player and a minimum number of reliable starters. If your first anchor costs $68, the second anchor may need to be $35—not another $68.

For the league described here, the two-anchor build is the best starting posture. It exploits the room's early stupidity without pretending the entire season can be won with $1 lottery tickets.
