# RB beer sheet 2026: four aliens, a winning zone, and the muddle below it

Beer-sheet rule: a running back is worth his standard-scoring PPG above the 27th RB (the last guy in a 12-teamer's flex slots), times roughly $6 per surplus point. Replacement RB sits near TreVeyon Henderson / Kenneth Walker at \~10.1 PPG. Source: DraftCall standard rankings, draftcall.io/rankings/rb/, retrieved 2026-09-03, built on 2025 production. \*\*The tiers with bid caps:\*\* - \*\*Tier 1 — the aliens.\*\* Jonathan Taylor 18.6 ($50–55), Christian McCaffrey 18.5 ($50–55), Bijan Robinson 17.2 ($40–45), Jahmyr Gibbs 17.0 ($40–45). These four clear replacement by 7–8.5 PPG. That's real, but the market will price them like they clear replacement by 12\. - \*\*Tier 2 — the actual winning zone.\*\* De'Von Achane 16.0 ($35–38), James Cook 15.8 ($30–35), Derrick Henry 15.6 ($30–35). Then a cliff nobody drafts into consciously: Jacobs 13.4, Kyren Williams 13.3, Skattebo 13.0, Javonte Williams 13.0 all sit in the $15–20 band with Tier-2-adjacent floors. - \*\*Tier 3 — flex filler with a pulse.\*\* Etienne 12.8, Chase Brown 12.6, Saquon 12.2, Swift 12.1: $10–15\. Below them, RB25–35 (Hampton, Jeanty, Warren, Hall, Dowdle) is a $5–9 muddle where the spreadsheet says they're all replacement-level and the market says otherwise. \*\*Why standard scoring matters here.\*\* McCaffrey's 102 receptions and Gibbs' 77 vanish into 0 in standard; what survives is Jonathan Taylor's 1,585 yards and 18 rushing TDs — which is exactly why JT sits joint-first on this sheet while PPR boards put CMC alone on the throne. Touchdowns and yardage decide standard; check that your league's scoring before trusting any sheet's order, including this one. \*\*Breece Hall's 10.8 PPG is a broken-player number\*\* (injury-shortened, down-field volume elsewhere) and the room will treat it that way — his name will still get bids. Fade the name at $20, respect the 2024 profile at $10\. \*\*The inflation-room play is positional, not personnel.\*\* When two owners detonate $140–160 combined on two Tier-1 backs, the Tier-2/Tier-3 corridor collapses to bargain prices \*because the pool money left the building with the winners' names on it\*. That corridor — $15–25 backs producing $18–22 of surplus-value — is where auction drafts are actually won. You cannot get there by bidding $55 on Jonathan Taylor. You get there by having $160 unspent while two teams are playing fantasy with two players and a wallet full of dust. Caveats: 2025 production as projection base; Henry and Adams age-curve in the wrong direction, and rookies (Hampton, Jeanty, Skattebo's second year) carry the usual transition risk. The surplus model prices production, not volatility — the $40 you \*don't\* spend on a back is also a hedge against the back who breaks.
