# The $200 standard-scoring auction blueprint for 2026

A $200 auction draft rewards flexibility more than a perfect player list. The goal is to leave the room with enough weekly scoring, enough paths to upside, and enough money left for the boring roster spots that keep a team alive.

## A useful starting budget

For a 1-QB standard-scoring redraft league, a reasonable first-pass plan is:

- **Quarterback:** about $16
- **Running back:** about $68
- **Wide receiver:** about $74
- **Tight end:** about $18
- **Kicker and defense:** about $4
- **Bench and late fliers:** about $20

That is a map, not a rule. If the room pushes quarterback prices down, buy the discount. If wide receivers become inflated, move money toward running backs or tight end rather than chasing a name.

## What standard scoring changes

Receptions do not carry their own point value, so volume must be translated into yards and touchdowns. That makes touchdown equity and red-zone role more important than a straight import of PPR rankings. It also makes replacement level matter: a cheap player with a real path to goal-line work can outscore a more famous player who needs ten catches every week to stay relevant.

## The auction rules that matter

- Keep a reserve for the final third of the draft. The room gets less rational when budgets become uneven.
- Track every team’s remaining money and open roster spots. Nomination value depends on who can still bid.
- Do not spend your last dollars on a fragile starting lineup. A $1 bench player with a plausible role is often more useful than a $6 name with no path to touches.
- Use tiers, not a single ranking. Once a tier is nearly gone, the next player’s price is driven by scarcity.

Build the plan before the auction, then let the room break it. That is the point of having a budget model in the first place.
